As Nigeria marks Workers’ Day today, Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, has extended warm wishes to all Nigerian workers—across every industry and sector—commending their dedication and resilience in nation-building.

In his message, Akinboro described the Nigerian workforce as the “silent architects of progress,” urging both the government and private sector to prioritize workers’ welfare and dignity.

“Labour is not just economic—it is moral, constitutional, and sacred. The people who rise early and work hard to build this nation deserve more than our applause—they deserve fair compensation, protection under the law, and sustainable livelihoods,” he said.

He called for reforms in workplace policies, greater enforcement of labour rights, and inclusive governance that listens to the real needs of the average Nigerian worker. Akinboro also noted the unique responsibilities of the legal profession in championing labour justice, law reform, and accountability in employment practices.

As Nigeria looks ahead, he encouraged both policymakers and professionals to ensure that the rights and dignity of workers remain central to national development.

“To every worker out there—your resilience is the foundation on which Nigeria must rise. We see you. We celebrate you. We stand with you.”

Happy Workers’ Day.
