To get your marriage certificates and other documents attested to in Abuja, Nigeria, you can follow these steps:
1. Notarize the certificate. Have a notary public notarize the marriage certificate. A notary public is usually a lawyer who is authorized to notarize documents.
2. Take the certificate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bring the notarized certificate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) headquarters in Abuja.
3. Pay the fee and submit proof of payment Pay the required fee and submit proof of payment at the MFA.
4. Wait for the certificate to be authenticated The MFA will verify the certificate’s authenticity and authenticate it if it’s genuine.
5. Pick up the certificate Return on the date specified to pick up the certificate, which can take a few days to a week.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is only open for authenticating documents Monday through Thursday. You can represent yourself or hire a Lawyer to help you handle it if you cannot be physically present in Abuja.
