*CHRISTIAN LAWYERS FELLOWSHIP OF NIGERIA (CLASFON)*
*Motto: “A New Legal Profession anchored on Christ”*
*Abuja, Nigeria – October 1, 2024*
The Christian Lawyers Fellowship of Nigeria (CLASFON) joins the nation in celebrating Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary. As we reflect on our nation’s journey, we acknowledge God’s sovereignty and providence.
As we commemorate this significant milestone, we recognize the progress made and challenges overcome. We also acknowledge the lingering difficulties that test our resolve. Yet, we remain hopeful, knowing that Nigeria’s potential is vast and untapped.
CLASFON reaffirms its dedication to promoting justice, equality, and the rule of law. We urge leaders to prioritize citizens’ welfare and security, and encourage Nigerians to engage in constructive dialogue and demand accountability.
Our 2024 theme, “The LORD is our King” (Isaiah 33:22), serves as a reminder of God’s ultimate authority and our commitment to anchoring the legal profession on Christ. As Christian lawyers, we recognize our biblical mandate to seek justice, speak for the voiceless, and uphold the rights of the oppressed (Isaiah 1:17).
We pledge to continue working tirelessly toward a Nigeria where justice reigns supreme, and the rule of law is sacrosanct. We will collaborate with government agencies, civil society organizations, and faith-based institutions to promote national unity, reconciliation, and development.
We use this medium to commiserate with Nigerians who are suffering any type of Natural and Social Disasters at this point. Our Prayers and support are with you at this trying Moment.
As we celebrate this milestone, we pray for:
– Economic growth and opportunities for all Nigerians
– Quality education and healthcare
– An end to corruption and social injustice &
– Peace and stability across our land
Signed
Femi David Ikotun
