An accomplished Human Rights Activist, Prophet *Barr. (Dr.) Obiajulu Hansel Ujah* has decried policies of government which treat human persons with indignity.

Barr. Obiajulu also deplored the attitude of overzealous officials who overstep bounds in the bid to carry out their assignments.

He has therefore resolved to take up the challenge, and defend those Nigerians who are constantly at the receiving end of official impunity.

The self acclaimed Activist, who himself had a brush with the authorities over his personal opinion on a political matter vowed to apply his resources and services in defence of the rights of the less privileged ones in the society.

While the authorities clamped him in detention, where he spent several months, God sent him a message. “Obiajulu, remember and fight for the less privileged ones.”

Ujah has already taken the gauntlet in pursuit of this divine project.

While he was in detention at Kuje Prison, Obiajulu interviewed five hundred and fifty six detainees and prisoners, most of whom he disclosed never committed the offences for which they were clamped in the cell.

He went further than that.

The fire brand legal icon has not only established a Foundation – Prison Support Initiative, Barr. Obiajulu Ujah has visited inmates of five Nigerian prisons in an effort to providing the poor fellows, free legal aid and other social services.

That is his idea of loving God.

For Obiajulu, service to humanity is service to God.

“The basic truth is that I love God, and anybody who says he loves God, but hates his neighbour is a murderer. Saint John said that much,” he said.

The astute legal practitioner is on record for taking his Foundation to Kuje, Jalingo, Suleja, Keffi and Enugu prisons to identify with the inmates and try to solve their problems.

His arrest and the maltreatments he received thereafter appears to be a blessing in disguise.

Since Obiajulu left detention, it has been deluge of Merit Awards, in recognition of

his rising profile as a dependable social crusader and human rights Activist, waging war against oppressors and those who treat homo sapiens unjustly.

The Activist appreciated both local and international organisations as well as institutions that have encouraged him, but promised to sue to Court media houses that carried fake news about his mental health. Barrister (Dr.) Obiajulu Hansel Ujah said with unmistakable voice that he would be seeking redress in the law Court against Google for attempting to tarnish his reputation. According to Dr. Ujah, “I have secured the services of three lawyers, two in the state of Califonia and one in Nigeria for them to retract the trash they wrote about me.”

On his academic records, Obiajulu stated that he is very well equipped to teach in the Universities. “No matter where the law is made, I can read, teach and interprete; that is the essence of the Doctor of Laws in Laws ascribed to me.”

“You see, I have made myself available to teach in Nigerian Universities, pro-bono. I also intend to teach in the Law Schools.”

Dr. Obiajulu is pointedly a versatile personality, full of energy, full of knowledge and cannot be intimidated in an argument. Once, during his secondary school days, Obiajulu is on record for winning an argument against his teacher who told the class that, “the empty vessel makes the most noise.”

The teacher was surprised when the young student insisted that the saying was wrong. Obiajulu said: “Sir, your assertion is wrong. I make noise in the class, but at the same time I come first in the class.” What an irony, the teacher must have ruminated.

The young Obiajulu who at three, enrolled in primary school was to be a Priest, a Reverend Father, but destiny had to truncate that pursuit.

According to Obiajulu, his father, Mr. Fred Okereke Ujah thought otherwise, so also his teacher nicknamed Oyii who insisted that he was a good material for Law.

Barr. Obiajulu spoke glowingly about Prof. (Senator) Sydney Mgbejiofor who as member of the Governing Council of the then Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Enugu facilitated his admission to read law.

Obiajulu graduated as one of the best students, went to the Law School, Bwari Abuja before proceeding to the Banking sector.

He ended up in Zenith Bank where in his words: “I became a force to reckon with.”
